
- Cocoa butter
- Shea butter
- Olive oil
- Coconut oil, fractioned
- Water (room temperature)
- Lye
* Use an online soap calculator to find the right measurements for your batch size
- Weigh & melt fats in stainless steel pot.
- Make lye + water mixture. Weigh the lye in a zip close bag and weigh your water into a plastic container. Go OUTSIDE and slowly pour lye into container of weighed water and stir with stainless steel spoon. Don’t pour the water into the lye.
- Weigh + set aside essential oils.
- Melt hard oils.
- Heat oils together while lye mixture is cooling.
- When fats and lye both reach about 110° F, pour lye solution through a strainer into pot of oil and stir.
- Lye that gets too cool can’t be warmed again.
- Stir 5 min on and off until trace.
- Add essential oils and any natural coloring agents or textures, stir very well.
- Separate some white before mixing in charcoal.
- Jiggle to mix and release any trapped air bubbles.
- Make textured or flat top as desired.
- Insulate mold us sing Saran Wrap and a thick towel to get it to gel. Wait 48 hours.
- Cut into bars.
- Cure by sitting up on the smallest surface area of the bar, on baking paper & setting in a cool and well ventilated area, out of direct sunlight. Space them out to increase air flow.
- Mark & date. Expiration date is same as 1st expiring ingredient.
- Leave to dry for 4-6 weeks.
- Test & record lather level.
